An interactive model

Planet 10 is an interactive virtual model of our Solar System written in Shockwave by Wired Science for Science year.

Planet 10 contains two sections:

1. Solar System Fly-through

Explore the planets, comets and asteroids on an interactive virtual fly-through. Zoom in close on a particular planet or choose a different orbit view to see the whole system from afar. The data sheets let you discover more about some of the elements that make up our Solar System.

2. World Builder

Think you could create the perfect World? Here�s your chance to try. With World Builder, you call the shots. Work your way through each of the creation screens, but make your choices wisely, only certain conditions will ensure your planet is a successful place for life to grow and evolve.

Technical Requirements

In order to enjoy Planet 10's many features, you will need an appropriate computer and set up. Here are our recommended minimum specifications:

Windows

  • Intel Pentium II processor (or higher)
  • Windows 95 or newer
  • 256-colour monitor capable of 800 x 600 resolution

Macintosh

  • Power Macintosh Power PC processor (G3 or higher recommended)
  • Mac OS 8.5 or newer
  • 256-colour monitor capable of 800 x 600 resolution

Modem

Connection 56kbps or above (recommended)

Browser

Internet Explorer : Version 4 or above
Netscape : Version 4 or above
Others : Version 4 or above

Plug-ins (free to download): ShockWave Version 8.5
